Harbor Dance Performing Group:

Performing Group provides dancers increased performance opportunities and instruction. PG is generally open to students, ages 7 -18 and requires audition or initiation. Younger children may be accepted onto smaller teams which require less commitment.
PG performs at various local venues and participates in 1-3 quality dance conventions which also sometimes hold competitions, where they learn technique by taking intensive class workshops from master instructors from Los Angeles and New York.

Dancers perform in the genres of their interest; jazz/lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop and tap.  Participation in Hip Hop and Tap is not required.  Dancers must demonstrate maturity and leadership capabilities within their classes and represent Harbor Dance positively when performing with the team.  Our 2009/2010 Performing Group is directed by Christy McNeil, Paula Johnson and Simone Peterson, is supported by a dedicated team of parent volunteers and includes choreographers: Christy McNeil, Simone Peterson, Paula Johnson, Dawn Del Castillo, Pam Lenker, and Nikki Bulman.

Performing Group Auditions will be held at the end of April--exact date and time TBA.

Our Performing Group vision for 2010-2011 is as follows:
We believe firmly that dance should enhance team building, self-worth, self esteem, and self-efficacy.  Therefore: PG Dancers will focus on dance and arts technique with opportunities to perform as well as experience with our arts-based curriculum.  We will create curriculum and implement it into PG classes, where dancers will learn how to enhance themselves as a body of dancers AS WELL as individually.  Our PG curriculum will require unification and cohesion of the group through dance in rehearsals, classes, performances and social events.  We will have a set structure and calendar for the year that will focus our dancers on honing their skills and talent in dance, as well as grow their inner person through mind, body and spirit.

Competitions and outside conventions will be offered as options, but not required for PG in
2010-2011.
